How crafting proficiency works
  • Crafting opens at character level 10. Craft at a Crafting Table in a town: crafting from the Crafting menu works anywhere but gives less combat EXP, and taking a hit cancels the craft as a failure.
  • Every craft gives proficiency, a failed one less than a success. Single crafts give far more proficiency for the same materials than the x10 and x30 batch recipes, which only save time.
  • Materials are the engine: they are made from gathered or common materials, and a recipe you have outgrown keeps giving the same proficiency, at least through 50. Gear needs Refining Stones, a rare drop, so craft it when the stones come.
  • The higher your proficiency is above a recipe, the better its success chance.
  • A combo can follow a successful craft and replaces the result with its Splendent version. Gear past the first tier is made from the Splendent piece of the tier below, so keep them.
  • Proficiency stops at 50 until you pass the promotion test, a quest that starts by itself. The current cap is 100.
  • Each proficiency level grants a crafting skill point, but crafting has no skills to spend them on yet.
Which profession first

Level the profession that makes your class weapon first: its gear is what you will want to craft at the cap. Armorsmithing and Cooking serve every class.

Choose a profession whose products you want to use. Compare ingredient and sale prices on your server before crafting to sell; demand does not guarantee a profit.

Gather or buy: gathered materials and monster drops can be traded, so buying them from other players saves hours. The bound reagents only come from the merchant of each profession.
